| Just joined up as the previous site I have used in the past seems to have vanished. My name is Kevin. I live in Harlow, Essex. I'm 46, just re-married for the 3rd time. No I'm not doing a Ross re-take. I've been riding since 1979, and started off on a CB125. The moment I got it I had the bug. I've only ever been without a bike for 6 months in all that time and it was bloody tortuous. I've done courier work, commuted, travelled and a few trackdays recently. I've restored a couple of bikes (CB400F and a Guzzi V50 ). I've fell off a few times as well, but not for a few years now I'm pleased to say. Last year I passed my advanced test with the Herts and Beds branch of the IAM. That alone, taught me more than the previous years on a bike, and I now feel much more confident because of it. If you haven't done it, and you want to enjoy the bends more, you should do it.It's much more valuable than any trackday school, including California Superbike. I've been to Europe several times, and the first was back in1986 when I travelled to see an old friend and stay with her family. I left the end of November and came back a week later. I used a Honda CB250Rs single cylinder, and it was utterly reliable except for having to adjust the chain once. I froze my arse off on the way back and went through over a 100 miles of fog on the way up, but it was worth every moment. I've been to Austria, Switzerland, Northern Italy, southern and central France, and a few days trips around Calais, as well as Normandy and Brittany. I've been to the four corners of this island and spent a week in Ireland, but the roads were not up to English standrds for most of the trip! Still trying to get to the Pyrenees as all previous attempts have ended in disaster for various reasons. My wife has just passed her CBT and is busy gaining more experience before going for the full licence next year. We love the bikes and go out as often as we can. I've ridden all sorts in the past, and you would be amazed at hat consttutes fun, especially when the cash is tight. My longest trip on a small bike was from North Norfolk to Nottingham on a Honda C70, and I was stopped for speeding! He let me off with a warning when he realised where I was heading to, so nice chap for a change. The current bike, a CBR600FV is my best bike to date, as it just does everything with such ease. If you ever feel like a get together then feel free to get in touch. the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. Until next time, keep it rubber side down, and enjoy it, as this is the reason for getting out there in the first place. ![]() |
