Hi de hi! Ho de ho :-) Been posting here for a couple of weeks but now I've got my cbt I guess I can now call myself an official biker and come out of the shadows! I'm Dan, 41, never been mad keen on bikes, they were just "something that was there", you know? But what with the credit crunch, petrol not getting any cheaper (well, it wasn't getting any cheaper when I decided I wanted to learn to ride!), life not getting any shorter, and my flatmate passing her CBT and getting a bike, I thought I'd take the plunge. However she's now decided that biking isn't for her, she's scared witless on the roads, and wants to sell me her CG125. I still need to get kitted out before I can take it on the road yet though! No other long term plans to do the DAS and get a bigger bike just yet, let's see how I get on with the 125 first, get some miles behind me and see what happens. Plus, I'll need to start saving for a bigger bike and for the DAS.... Cheers Dan

Re: Hi de hi! Hi Dan and welcome from a fellow Manc. As for getting kitted out, I saw on an American site that someone wrote re. gear "Dress for the crash, not the ride". Thought that was wise especially for a Septic. I have adopted that policy. Paul

Re: Hi de hi! congratulations and welcome. Enjoy the 125 - don't be in a mad rush to get onto a bigger bike. You'll know when you're ready to make the move and if you don't want to, just enjoy your 125 for what it is.

Re: Hi de hi! Hello Dan and welcome to you. Congrats on the CBT! ![]() I know what you mean about not really being interested in bikes. I wasn't either until I couldn't get a parking pass for uni a few years back. I ran the options through my head figuring a way out around it. Cycle-no, too far. Bus-no, too expensive and would take too long. Car-no, couldn't park close enough to uni without getting clamped. So I ended up getting a scooter and it was one of the best things I've done! Enjoyed it so much, it was cheap, journey time was short and I could lock it with the cycles right outside the buildings I had to go to.![]() It was a absolute revelation and I had a big grin on my face most of the time. Good luck with it all mate, it can only get better and better and... ![]()
