* Waves * Hi :-) Hello everyone Just like to say how very welcoming and informative this site is - good old Google for finding it ! Have been only been reading for a couple of days - frantic search for information and reassurance on U Turns ahead of my test ![]() I'm very new to bikes, suddenly deciding I had to learn to ride this summer. Did my CBT end of September, had planned on taking the standard test and playing it safe with a resticted bike, BUT ..... Passed my DAS 1st attempt yesterday ![]() Any advice on what bike to get now really appreciated ![]() Thanks

Re: * Waves * Hi :-) congratulations and welcome to the club ......bit of a tough question to start with , my first reaction would be to ask what plans have you for riding in the future if the bikes gonna be for everyday use , the occasional good weather sunday run or touring , but i would hesitate in actually recommending any particular bike but would suggest you get yourself along to your local dealer have a look take a few demo rides and decide which bike feels right for you and suits your needs ![]()

Welcome to the forum Nelly and well done on passing your test . A lot of the folk on here seem to fancy the Honda 600 for a first bike, but I recon going along and having a few demo rides is probably the best idea by far...![]()

Congratulations - well done and such a nice feeling - i still remember passing my test - great feeling - ditto the other comments go and try out some bikes and see what feels best for you. Had a Yamaha Fazer 600 for my first bike and was a great choice - but look at the Honda 600's aswell great build quality and good handling

Re: * Waves * Hi :-) Thanks for the welcome and the advice re 1st bike, will get myself down to the bike dealers asap ;-) Trawling the ads online and reading various reviews, the Fazer and the Honda 600 look likely candidates. Learnt on a ER5, don't want anything too big n crazy whilst I'm still such a novice. Looking for a Sports Tourer type (I think, plan to have a good look round the UK - not just sunny sunday riding ) that is user friendly whilst Ive still got lots to learn. Bit worried I will look a complete numpty infront of the salesman when my total lack of bike knowledge is confirmed by stupid questions :-P They're going to *earn* their commission with me :-) Thanks guys
