Joomla Website

I need to create an intranet here at work. Joomla seems to the best option for a Content Management System. Has anyone experience of this?

Should i go down the Linux or Window Joomla route?

Re: Joomla Website

It's not my area really mate, but from the website it looks like a worthwhile resource, with community support..

Have you had a play with a demo account... From that you could see if it will do what you want, and how simple you goals will be to achieve.

Being a fan of open source tho I guess I might be bias

As for Windows or Linux, then go for the one your most comfortable with.

Sorry I could not be more help.

Re: Joomla Website

Hiya mate

Like Jonny, it's not my area, but I have heard of it, another one it may be worth looking at is Tiddlywiki. A few of us here use Tiddlywiki for informal information-sharing between ourselves.

As jonny suggested, the best thing to do is have a bit of a google, then play with the ones you like the look of and see how easy it is to use and whether it's gonna tick all your boxes.

Best of luck with creating the Intranet!

Neil

Re: Joomla Website

have you tried looking at a Sharepoint Solution for a business intranet - if you are allready using MS Office 11 and MS Exchange then you probably have the licensing.

Though I am assuming that you want an Intranet for collaberation, sharing files, workspaces etc and not for a forum ?

Re: Joomla Website

Whoa slow down a bit guys - if you don't really know what you are talking about and I'm not saying you don't but some answers here are just pissing in the wind. What I am saying is, if you don't know for certain then don't post because I am sure Singh can guess at it himself without being thrown off track

Re: Joomla Website

Build custom every day of the week. It will do just what you want it to then. I have used joomla once or twice but find it overly complicated (I got that fed up with it I learned PHP instead which I found easier)

Re: Joomla Website

Thanks for the advice. I've DL'd Joomla 1.5.

I'm gonna install IIS 6.0 on a W2003 server. Then copy the Joomla install scripts in. Do I need to install MySQL as well? Or can i get away without it?
