tweeks for firefox

first off i will say that this isnt my work,i have borrowed it from another forum, but i have made the adjustments and it does make a noticeable difference, so what are you waiting for??

Here's how to do it.

First of all ignore anything Microsoft say, they talk a load of bull

Download Firefox (a web browser far superior to Internet Explorer) link below

Firefox web browser | Faster, more secure, & customizable | Mozilla Europe

Once you've installed this and found it much quicker than IE you do the really clever part. As all these web browsers are set to work with dial up connections they don't work anywhere close to their capability so a few tweaks will increase the performance by about 10X

If you want to make firefox even faster do the following

Here’s something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

To alter an entry right click and from the menu choose toggle

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0?. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

or try opera

It's quick, has biult in email and bittorrent client, and is more customisable than IE (but maybe not as much as firefox)...
