| Re: 15th Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show 19th October in Stafford Had a cracking Day at the show... didn't start so well with Phil breaking off his foot rest. So we Said "bugger it" and we departed in a wobbly manner for Stafford 2 up on the Bandit... Had a cracking ride down, once I got into the swing of it.. I normally only take my little girl out on the back, or Mrs W.. who gives me a battering every time we go above 40.. so a competent pillion was a change, but we soon built up a head of steam and beetled down the A41 making good time. we had got into a rhythm by the time we hit Newport, and had an absolute scream down the A518 into Stafford. This is a very twisty road and even though 2up the little bandit was leaving bigger and much shinier kit in it's wake.. He he he.. Once there we had to park in a field, and we had to improvise a side stand pad out of me Allen keys, as we did not have a pad.. Lots of others were scratching there heads too, and it was nice to see people helping each other out by finding things for each other to use. Mind you someone could of made a killing selling Pads there. Got parked up to and managed to buy some tickets "from a man" in the car park, so got in cheap..Bonus There was loads to see there, The auto jumble yielded loads of goodies, but no LH foot-peg for the 6r.. although we found plenty of RH ones!!. I got the bargain of the year. Last week I treated myself to a new Akito Desert jacket, and Mrs W was gonna buy me the matching pants for xmas. In one of the Halls the was a huge pile of bankrupt stock in the corner.. all things £15, and in this lot were a mint pair of the pants I wanted!!! £15 for £70 pants.. bargain!! Lots of other bargains to be had, Autosol @£2, Scottoil at £3, Bobins at £7... anything you wanted you would of got there cheap. As for the bikes, The Laverda owners club were there, as were most other owners clubs, lots of nice Zs, KH triples, GTs, Aircooled RDs, XS11s, GSes, CBX, you name it then there was one there . On the Honda CBX stand there was a cbx 6 cylinder motor in a one off frame with r1 forks brakes and running gear, and a similarly modern back end too.. It looked mint, but for the life of me WHY?? Took the whole day to see it all, and we were hustling to get around it, by the end our feet were aching... Was very happy to get back to the bike and find it standing up still. Loaded up the box with our goodies, and the like and set off on the windy and foreboding trip home. Got Back safe sound and dry... although had to do an emergency pit stop at Whitchurch as I had cramp in me leg and could not change gear!! Anyway you bunch of Sad-Acts missed the fun, and the Bargains.. maybe you'll be there next spring at the next one. ![]() Last edited by jonnywombat : 10-20-2008 at 02:31 PM. |
