Anyone got the time to spare?
Who wants to make all that effort in their already busy day? and not drop out!

If you are keen to go to the shows to promote the forum and raise money for Ben why not get permission to give away stickers, walk round the show promoting the site and telling people about raising money for Ben. Get them to join, get the forum more well known and then charge for membership and have t-shirts etc for sale from the site. Next year when the forum membership has increased then it maybe the time to hire a stand and sell promotional goods.
And no! I'm not talking outa my backside, I have the job of raising money for the charity I work for every day and know just how hard it is.
Yes we all want to raise as much money for Ben as quickly as possible but theres no get rich quick scheme whether the money is for yourself or for a good cause!

Obviously this is all just my opinion so feel free to shoot me down in flames
You seem to have got the wrong idea...

The stand thing was with regard to selling of all our bits and bobs that we have lying around.. The orginal idea was to auction our stuff via ebay, but Phil realized that we would have to pay loads of auction fees and paypal fees etc, in total this may be more than the cost a stand and the postage involved for getting the stuff to a central point (whoever was going to man the stand) at a show. The only "upfront" cost would be the the member who paid for the stand, which they would recoup directly from the sale of goods.

Everything else were individual ideas and not related to the stand idea.

The stickers we have thanks to spree so no cost there (except to spree)

As for shirts. Phil knows a guy who does t shirts.. I think his idea is that this would be a members only online option which people would pay up front to Phil..or whoever, but as it's Phil's contact. Who would then get his man to make them when we have a minimum order quantity filled. Phil would despatch them out, recoup his costs and the donate the profit (i think his figures work out about £5 profit per shirt...)

Hope that clears a few things up for you

Re: fundraising idea

Just FYI

Bike Club stands at stafford are free (but £7 per bike shown), but that is still less than the entrance fee Pity it's too late, I think the entry has now closed.

An auto jumble stand is £50 quid.. but all booked....

IMHO I think we can afford nothing for a club stand

Re: fundraising idea

I was just looking at the BMF tail end fee's too, £30 per metre plus there's a H & S declaration which includes box's to tick for insurence ........... some pretty hefty profits would be needed to cover the outlay ........

Never for a moment thought you were...

It was just a misunderstanding that these ideas were separate from each other rather than all part of one larger "master plan"...

Work on the hollowed out volcano base is still ongoing

Re: fundraising idea

just before visordown was bought out.they had an option to pay a yearly subscription of £10,this got you increased storage for pm,s and some VD stickers,i realise that in order for this to make any difference, more people need to be willing to take part. i really thought the quiz would have been a lot more popular than it turned out to be.

i know we cant force anyone to take part or to part company with money, but if all the smokers stopped for one day a week and gave the money to the ben fund, that would ammount to a fair bit ? or the price of one pint of beer a week?

i can afford to do that and im not a rich person i earn below the national average wage drive a second hand car and bike and cant afford foreign holidays.
so get the finger out peeps, whats a couple of quid in the great scheme of things? and its supporting a home grown up and coming tallent.

........................................Sam

trust me! im a druid
