fundraising idea

just a bit of a thought.following on from auctioning stuff idea really,
how about biker forum getting a stand at a bike show (might be a bit late this year???? anglesey perhaps??) that will increase our profile and at the same time how about all of us who have bike stuff lying around in sheds/cupboards/garages/carboard boxes/attics etc donate our stuff to be sold on the same stand to fund ben's campaign, obviously this will only work if there is enough stuff to sell to cover stand costs etc and make enough profit to pass on.
you could also sign up new members to the forum at the show, £1 membership and a sticker type thing??? sell tee-shirts for £7.50-£10 maybe (you get them done for under £4 with a single colour logo)
well what do any of you think? just throwing idea's around really.

i've got corner speed, it's control i struggle with!

Re: fundraising idea

I think the main problem would be the cost of a stand at a big show. I can look into the cost of T-shirts for sure but looking at the uptake for the stickers would it be worth it do you think?

Re: fundraising idea

I would buy a shirt for sure... it's a shame more people will not put their hands in their pockets...

Spree is right

The stickers and the quiz were both only a small amount of money, I would of thought well within the reach of almost all the membership, but it seems that it's the same old faces supporting the forum...

I think there has been a significant rise in the "active" membership since I joined (which is still a relatively short time), and some of these new members post at quite a prolific rate, which is fantastic, but how many have got their stickers and where were they on "quiz night"??.

Come you know who you are... get your hands in your pockets, support Ben, support the forum, and you never know you might just have some fun too

Re: fundraising idea

I wouldn't be able to go to the show as I will be in France but I'm more than happy to pay for membership and buy a T-shirt!!

What about a callendar compiled of members pics to raise money? Everyone needs a callendar right?

Re: fundraising idea

Don't want to rain on your parade but
cost of stand?
cost of transport?
cost of t-shirts, cost of printing?
cost of stickers?

someone would have to shell out upfront for all these things. anyone got a few thousand to spare??
Anyone got the time to spare?
Who wants to make all that effort in their already busy day? and not drop out!

If you are keen to go to the shows to promote the forum and raise money for Ben why not get permission to give away stickers, walk round the show promoting the site and telling people about raising money for Ben. Get them to join, get the forum more well known and then charge for membership and have t-shirts etc for sale from the site. Next year when the forum membership has increased then it maybe the time to hire a stand and sell promotional goods.
And no! I'm not talking outa my backside, I have the job of raising money for the charity I work for every day and know just how hard it is.
Yes we all want to raise as much money for Ben as quickly as possible but theres no get rich quick scheme whether the money is for yourself or for a good cause!

Obviously this is all just my opinion so feel free to shoot me down in flames

Re: fundraising idea

Spot on Mickie

I was chair of a local charity for quite a few years and some time's it's just like banging your head against a brick wall when it come's to fund raising

If someone could design a flier say A5 size (2 on one A4 sheet) which promotes the forum, Ben and Team Repli-Cast, leave it in the forum somewhere (so were are all using the same one) anyone of us could just print a few off and leave some at our local bike shops ............... just an idea ........

Some time's my mind doesn't only wander, it leaves completely ...........
