I am currently in discussions with Gary Dawson the team manager of Replicast UK racing to sponsor and promote a young rider, Ben McConnachie in the UK 125 GP Championship.
I have been following this young racers progress for over 12 months now, ever since the Biker Cafe was approached to promote him. He has since moved to the Replicast team and Gary Dawson contacted me to see if I would continue with the articles.
I have suggested that the Biker Forum "adopts" Ben as our resident racer with a view to raising funds for him to help with his campaign.
This will do two things for the Biker Forum;
1. Raise the profile of the forum in racing circles because the bike will be carrying our logo
2. Give us a rare opportunity to have a hand in the success of a young British racing prospect and hence drive more people to the site, this obviously is a good thing for the forum.
As yet it is still early days and I don't know exactly what we will get back in return for our efforts but the likelihood is that there will be spin offs from the BSB series, i.e. passes, merchandise etc.
Pictured below are the latest images of Ben in action at Mallory together with a link to the latest report where you can also read a little bit more about him.
I would also like some feedback on this and a few ideas for fundraising please Ben McConnachie Signs for Team Repli-Cast UK - Bikerworkshop.com |

I have just added a script that allows you to upload and manage your photobucket account direct from the forum. This will also allow you to insert images into your posts without leaving the page.
Obviously you need a Photobucket account to be able to do this so go here to sign up for one. Its free and in my opinion, one of the better online photo albums speedwise.
To use the system just scroll down and you should see a link named "show the upload form" in the "additional options" section. You can also browse your account for images within this.
If anyone has problems with it then please post in this thread and I will do my best to help

Hello Forum,
I know we have a really good bunch of members but I think that all of us ought be aware that anyone can see this forum so I would recommend phone numbers should not be posted, use the forums personal message system to get the info to the relevant people.
This is not a forum rule just a word of warning.

Many of you will have noticed that I have been a bit quiet on the forum for the last couple of months. The main reason is that I have been working on a new review site; All the latest motorcycle accessory and industry news - Bikerworkshop.com
The site is mainly aimed at news and reviews for motorcycle accessories with a bit of general biker and sport news thrown in for good measure. Grotbag will be working with me on the new site because she seems to have a good nose for digging out articles as many of you have seen on this site.
In the very near future we will be contacting as many manufacturers and agents as possible for news updates and items for reader review so will need regular contributors/testers to try out new accessories ranging from workshop items to clothing. The way this is going to work is that we will publish a limited review on the forum together with the full article on the new site, if you are interested in doing this please let me know via PM.
Reviewers will be chosen from a broad range of bikers, i.e. from learner bikers to experienced ones but you must satisfy some criteria;- You must be able to produce an article with an honest review of the item being tested (about an A4 size)
- You must be able to take good quality images to illustrate your article
- You must reside in the UK (for postage purposes)
As yet we don't really know how ownership of the items is going to work, but I would like it to be something like this....
Any unwanted, serviceable item can be returned to me and can be auctioned off for charity at the end of the year. It could also be the case that the supplier will want the item back - I just don't know at this stage, so will have to play it by ear until the site is fully established. Also the review will possibly have to pay postage to their home (which would be worth it for some freebies eh ).
In the mean time I would like to get some feedback from you all concerning the site - have a play around it and let me know what you think. Try to be constructive but be as honest as possible, I have a very thick skin All the latest motorcycle accessory and industry news - Bikerworkshop.com |
